Deceit or fraud? what’s the difference any way
Sheikh Mubajje and his co-accused Hassan Basajjabalaba and Idris Kasenene had been on trial since October 2006, after a group of Muslims led by the Kampala UMSC chairman, Sheikh Jjemba, accused them of selling Plots 30 and 102 on William Street in Kampala—without the knowledge of the executive committee of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC). They were acquitted yesterday at 9:45 am.
Now, according to Magistrate Tibulya, There was no evidence that the Mufti repeatedly lied to the Muslim community that the properties had not been sold and becouse of that, she saw no reason for convicting them hence their acquittal.
But my question is, were these 3 leaders taken to court for lying that they had not sold muslim property or for the fact that they forged documents (1st count), fraudulently sold Muslim property(2nd count) and conspired to commit a crime (3rd count) (why they double each count to make them six i don’t know).
why were they let off for a completely different reason?
We are going to appeal against the ruling but in the meantime We are electing an alternative Mufti- me and the jama’s.

maybe the acquittal was politically motivate, no??
